Dr. Hasan Özalp graduated from Akdağmadeni Imam Hatip High School and received his undergraduate degree from the Faculty of Theology at Cumhuriyet University. He completed his master’s degree in Islamic Philosophy at the same university’s Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Philosophy and Religious Sciences, with a thesis titled “The Concept of Mead in the Thought of al-Fārābī and Avicenna.” He pursued his doctoral studies at Istanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences, in the same department, and earned his Ph.D. in the Philosophy of Religion with a dissertation titled “Reconciliatory Approaches in the Relationship Between Religion and Science.”
He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2016 and promoted to full Professor in 2021. Prof. Özalp’s academic interests span a wide range of interdisciplinary fields, including the relationship between religion and philosophy, religion and science, Islamic cosmology, the history and philosophy of Islamic science, contemporary political and moral issues, globalization and ethics, internet addiction and social media ethics, the culture of coexistence, and the connection between faith and social harmony. His work is characterized by a consistent effort to engage classical Islamic thought with contemporary intellectual and ethical challenges.
Prof. Özalp has published books, book chapters, academic articles, and conference papers both nationally and internationally.
