AUTOBİOGRAPHY
He was born in 1966 in Ordu. He graduated from Imam Hatip high school in 1985. In the same year, he started his education at the Faculty of Divinity of Ankara University. He graduated from this faculty in 1990, and in the same year, he started his master's Degree in the Department of Islamic Theology and Philosophy at the Institute of Social Sciences of Ankara University. He did it in relation to the Prophet Muhammed’s miraj incident. He completed his doctorate with his thesis titled “the problem of evil in the Islamic Theology.” Meanwhile, in June 1995, he resigned from his previous teaching position and was appointed as a research assistant to the Department of basic Islamic Sciences of the Faculty of Divinity of Cumhuriyet University. In 1998 he became assistant professor and in 2004 he became associate professor. In 2004/2005 academic year, he attended the program prepared for foreigners at the Language Center of the University of Jordan as a scholarship from the Ministry of National Education. He became a professor in 2009 (August 19). On 04.02.2013 he was transferred from the Faculty of Divinity of Cumhuriyet University to the Faculty of Islamic Sciences of Yıldırım Beyazit University as a faculty member at the Department of İslamic Theology and the History of Islamic sects. On 03.01.2018 he was appointed as a faculty member to the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences in the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at the Social Sciences University of Ankara. He is currently working as a faculty member in the same department and is the head of the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences. He has several books and articles on the problem of evil, human freedom, the question of fate and the defense of the Qur'an of Mu’tazila. Prof. Dr. Metin Özdemir has been appointed as a member of the Supreme Council of Religious Affairs on 05 October 2020.
